• The Spot Clean (Recommended): If the hat only has a few sweat stains or a bit of dirt, avoid a full soak.
  • Mix a Solution: Use warm water and a drop of mild laundry detergent or dish soap.
  • Scrub Gently: Use a soft toothbrush or a cloth to scrub the sweatband and any stained areas on the crown.
  • Rinse: Use a clean, damp cloth (water only) to "rinse" the soap out of the fabric.
• The Deep Clean (Hand Wash): If the cap is heavily soiled from a long day outdoors, a manual soak is the safest deep-clean method.
  • Fill a Basin: Use cool to lukewarm water.
  • Soak: Add a small amount of mild detergent. Submerge the hat and let it sit for about 15–30 minutes.
  • Rinse: Run it under cool tap water until all the suds are gone.
  • Pat Dry: Do not wring or twist the hat. Pat it with a towel to remove excess moisture.
• Drying (The Most Important Step): Never put a twill baseball cap in the dryer. The heat will shrink the cotton and warp the plastic or buckram brim.
  • Reshape: While the hat is still damp, manually pull the crown into its proper shape.
  • Use a "Form": To ensure it dries perfectly, set the hat over a rounded object like a coffee tin, a small bowl, or a dedicated hat form.
  • Air Dry: Keep it out of direct sunlight to prevent the dye from fading.
